The Growing Almond Leaders Program is a 12-month subsidised leadership development course for individuals connected to and committed to the Almond Industry.
The program aims to equip and encourage emerging leaders with the right knowledge and skills, confidence and opportunities to enter almond industry leadership roles. It offers a unique combination of personal and professional development, designed with a clear aim of providing relevant and experiential learning including talks with industry leaders and experts.
The program consists of four residential workshops (4 x 2-day), 18 hours of online seminars and events, and up to 10 hours of mentoring support (time estimates do not include travel time). Attendance at all workshops and seminars is mandatory. All applicants must be available to travel to workshops as scheduled.
A strategic levy investment, the project, Growing Almond Leaders (AL23003) is part of the Hort Innovation Almond Industry Fund.

Proposed Timetable for 2025 Cohort
Program Elements
Immersive Learning: Participants will increase their understanding of the principles and theories underpinning effective leadership and develop their own leadership skills.
Industry Knowledge and Awareness: Participants will be provided exposure to industry insights and innovation through industry experts and field trips.
Practical Exercises: Participants will put theory into practice through exercises and activities, learning by doing.
Mentorship: Participants will have the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors who can provide valuable insights and guidance and accelerate participant growth.
Peer Learning: Sharing insights and experiences from fellow participants who bring diverse experiences and perspectives.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible to participate in the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Reside in Australia.
- Been employed for at least one year in current role in an almond-related position.
- Demonstrate the willingness to learn and apply leadership skills within the almond community.
- Obtain employer permission if accepted to program.
- If self-employed, establish the ability to be away from his/her business for all scheduled events.
- Commit to completing activities and reports as needed to successfully complete the program.
Is there a cost involved in participating?
The Growing Almond Leaders Program will charge a fee of $1500 for participation in the program. All course materials, meals and accommodation are provided as part of the program. Participant travel costs and any small incidental expenses associated with the program are the responsibility of the participant.

As part of your application, you will be asked to upload a headshot and your CV/resume. Full consideration will be provided to all applicants regardless of age, gender, race or other distinguishing characteristics.
Can I nominate someone?
Yes, you can! Talk to the person you wish to nominate and provide them with a brief letter outlining that you wish to nominate them for the program and your reasons for doing so. You nominee will be able to upload your nomination as part of the application process.
